Barratt & Cooke acquire the lease on the former Bristol & West Building Society

The long established and renowned Norwich stockbrokers, Barratt & Cooke have recently acquired the lease on the former Bristol & West Building Society on London Street.

Charles Barratt commented:

We purchased 6 Opie Street in 1988, which actually became the UK's first independent 'Share Shop'.  This coincided with the Government's privatisation boom and the expansion of the share-owning democracy.  As time has moved on, our ever increasing client base needs more sophisticated Fund Management and Dealing services.  The new premises will give us further scope for growth, whilst remaining in the centre of Norwich.

Barratt & Cooke has been based in Opie Street for over 100 years, with:
Head Office: 5 Opie Street
Share Shop: 6 Opie Street
and occupying two floors above 57 London Street.

With the help of Arnolds Chartered Surveyors, after very long and finally successful negotiations, Barratt & Cooke has now acquired the whole lease on London Street and will move the 'Share Shop' into these premises in the summer.

This relocation also releases 6 Opie Street, the existing Share Shop which is currently available for sale through Arnolds Chartered Surveyors.
