Though the past two or three years in the residential property market have been more volatile than usual, it now seems to have settled down with prices beginning to move forward again.
In recent weeks mortgage interest rates have increased but so far this does not seem to have had any discernable effect on the market with a record November in respect of both new sales and exchanges of contracts.
Obviously there are concerns that future increases in mortgage interest rates could damage the market although, if anything, the current under-supply of new properties is likely to maintain the upward pressure on house prices into 2007.
